3.4 Percent Raise in Federal Pay Likely this Year

On Wednesday, the Labor Department released statistics showing a change in the Employment Cost Index - the index most widely accepted as a tool to calculate rising employment costs - of 3.4 percent from September 2006 to September 2007.   President Bush will in all likelihood use this figure to determine his pay raise recommendation in February when he releases his 2009 budget proposal.  Full Story...
